Another South Omaha neighborhood on the canvassing trail. Vinton Street is a great neighborhood with many wonderful businesses, markets, and restaurants. However, change is in the air. One of Omaha's most iconic structures, the massive grain elevators off of Vinton Street, are about to become history. The Omaha City Council just approved TIF funds to support multifamily housing in this location. To their credit, the developers are planning to incorporate a few of the silos into the design of the new housing project. It will be interesting to watch this develop.
